stranger than fiction
angeleno magazine is a big, glossy, tabloid-sized lifestyle mag all about los angeles and the fascinating people who live here (all seemingly possessed of blindingly white teeth, but that's another post for another time).
so, i'm perusing the 'culinary arts calendar' section for october and come across this item:
Opaque: Dining in the Dark Saturdays at the Hyatt West Hollywood
A three course meal for $99 is served in a total blackout, allowing you to completely immerse yourself in your palate. Food is served by blind or sight-impaired waitstaff.

Sounds like a bargain to me -- you should check it out!
I hope they'll stay in the spirit of things by serving some delicious veal raised in tiny dark pens, or some chickens that also never see the light of day.
And why stop with blind servers? I bet some quadruple amputees would be happy to let customers dine off their torsos for a fat tip.
i know, right? i really think someone slipped this in as a joke. if i can find a spare minute, i'm going to call and find out, 'cause this is eight hundred different ways of wrong!
How could something so wrong be so right? If it is for real, it may be worth checking out for the experience of it...kind of like scientology.
